Description

The Notations feature in Contesimal allows users to add personal context, reminders, or highlights to saved content like Snippets or List Items within a Session. This feature enhances how users organize, track, and collaborate around content. It plays a critical role in Contesimal's mission by enabling more contextualized, searchable, and actionable content collections—making it easier to monetize and repurpose valuable knowledge from internal or external sources.

This feature supports seamless annotation and collaboration, and empowers users to layer meaning or categorization over their collected insights.


Step-by-Step: Golden Path to Use Notations

Step 1: Access Notations View

  1. From the top navigation bar, hover over or click Collections.

  2. Select Notations from the dropdown menu.


Step 2: Explore All Notations

  1. You’ll land on the All Notations page. This view:

    • Shows a table of all notated content.

    • Displays the List Item, associated Session, and Date Added.

    • Includes controls to:

      • Open snippet view (? icon).

      • Delete a notation (?️ icon).

      • Search or filter by Session Name or notation text.


Step 3: View or Edit a Notation

  1. Click the notations icon (speech bubble) next to an item to open a modal view of that Snippet or List Item.

  2. In this modal:

    • See all notations tied to the item.

    • Add a new notation using the text box at the bottom.

    • Click the ... menu next to your notation to Edit or Delete it.

    • Use the “Go to session source” button to jump back to the original session for more context.


Step 4: Add a Notation While Saving Content

  1. While saving a snippet or search result to a list:

    • A “Save Snip to List” modal appears.

    • Choose the list (e.g., “April 2025 Default List”).

    • Use the “Add Notation” box to write a relevant comment or insight.

    • Click Save to store the item and your notation.


Step 5: View in Session

  1. Go back to the related Session (e.g., April 2025) to see:

    • Your saved Snippets and List Items.

    • Notations appearing in a small sidebar panel alongside each item.

Wrong Session ListedA notation is shown under the wrong session.This usually happens when saving from a different session context. Use “Go to session source” to verify the original location and reassign if needed.
Deleted by MistakeA user accidentally deletes a notation.Currently there’s no undo for deletes. Advise users to copy key notes before deletion or confirm with pop-up if unsure.
Can't find a notationYou remember writing a note but can't find it.Use the Search Notation Items field. Try keywords from the text. Also ensure you're filtering by the correct Session Name.
List item or snippet icon confusionUsers don’t understand icon meanings.Use the following icon key as a quick-reference:
